Vermicompost Preparation

Vermicompost: The compost which is s
prepared from excretra of earthworm is called vermicompost. 




Procedure: 1. Prepare a pit size of 1m length, 60cm breadth and 20cm depth. 
2.The size of pit should be at high level so as to avoid entry of water in to the pit. 
3. Provide proper shelter to pit.                       4.Fill the pit with 1/2 portion of compost and 1/2 portion of half decomposed material alternately in the pit like refuses, crop residues, leaves etc. 
5. Release around 2000 earthworms at upper surface of pit of species 
Eustwia foetida.
6. Cover the pit with gunny bag and provide regular watering
7. Vermicompost is ready within 10 days which contain eggs of earthworms.
8. For collecting vermicompost take out the vermicompost without using any equipment like sickle to avoid injuries to earthworms 
9. Within few minutes earthworms goes down at the bottom,then collect superficial vermicompost. 
10. Transfer the earthworms in to the pit for further vermicopost preparation. You 

Advantages:1.Increase soil fertility. 
2.Increase the availability of N, P, K and micronutrients.
3.Acts as a natural till ageing agents,there by increase aeration in soil.
4.Increase water holding capacity of soil. 
5.Less erosion of soil. 
6.It checks the evaporation of moisture. 
7.Increase the microbial activities. 
8.Healthy growth of crop. 
9.Increase yield of the crop along with quality.

Bacterial blight(Oily spot) of pomogranate

 


Causal Organism:Xanthomonas axanopodis. PV. Punicae.
                                                                                      Symptoms: 1.Small,irregular,water soaked Spots appear on leaves.                                       2.Later spots turn light brown to dark  brown and are surrounded by prominent water soaked margin.                                           3. Severely infected leaves fall off.                     4.Finally the branches breakdown. Brown to black spots appear on the pericarp with L and Y shaped cracks. The spots on fruits are raised and oily in appearance.                        
                    Management   :                               1.Clean cultivation and strict sanitation in the orchard help to reduce the disease incidence.                                                                  2.Spraying with Bordeaux mixture 1.0 percent controls the disease.

Powdery mildew of Mango

  • Symptoms: Powdery mildew of mango is a serious destructive disease of mango.  1 : The symptom of disease is white Powdery growth on the surface of leaves,flowers and fruit.                         2 : Affected flowed and fruit drop prematurely The fungus attacks on all the parts of flower,fruit and leaves.         3 :Younger leaves attacks more by fungus on both the sides of leaf.               4 : These disease attacks in the month of Dec to March.                                           5 : The favourable condition of disease is cool and dry weather. 
  •    Management:

                                     
  • 1 : Cultural method : Cleanliness and sanitation of field  by collecting diseased plant parts and burning it.        2 : Spray the crop with wetteble sulphur 0.2 % , Carbendizm 0.1 % ,karthane 0.1 % as incidence occur.
