prepared from excretra of earthworm is called vermicompost.
Procedure: 1. Prepare a pit size of 1m length, 60cm breadth and 20cm depth.
2.The size of pit should be at high level so as to avoid entry of water in to the pit.
3. Provide proper shelter to pit. 4.Fill the pit with 1/2 portion of compost and 1/2 portion of half decomposed material alternately in the pit like refuses, crop residues, leaves etc.
5. Release around 2000 earthworms at upper surface of pit of species
Eustwia foetida.
6. Cover the pit with gunny bag and provide regular watering
7. Vermicompost is ready within 10 days which contain eggs of earthworms.
8. For collecting vermicompost take out the vermicompost without using any equipment like sickle to avoid injuries to earthworms
9. Within few minutes earthworms goes down at the bottom,then collect superficial vermicompost.
10. Transfer the earthworms in to the pit for further vermicopost preparation. You
